Torsten Berens is the Managing Director of Hamburg Market in Germany and has held this position since January 2008. Prior to that he was from 2006 the Deputy Managing Director of the Hamburg Wholesale Market. This market serves a catchment area including West Poland and South Scandinavia; a total of 15 million consumers receive fresh food from this market. Annual turnover in the hall at the market is €710 million with total site turnover around €2 billion. Prior to his work for the market he was responsible for funfairs, events and weekly markets in the City of Hamburg Department of Economics and Labour Affairs. He graduated with a Masters of Administration (Dipl. Verw.-Wirt). He is a member of the WUWM Board of Directors since 2008.

Andrés de Pando is International Director of Mercasa, Spain. He has a Law degree and another degree in Economics and Business Administration, as well as a Masters from the IESE Business School of Navarra in Spain. He has developed his professional experience in the sphere of business consulting (health and urban development) and has worked for companies such as Arthur Andersen, Andersen Consulting, Ernst & Young, Navision Software España, S.L. and Microsoft. Since this last month of March, he is the new International Director for Mercasa, responsible for Consultancy Services abroad. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish markets of Mercamadrid, Mercalaspalmas and Mercatenerife, being Vice-president in the last two ones.
