A project has been taken up with the cost for establishing Basmati Export Zone under which three markets Amritsar, Batala and Tarn Taran are being modernized with the assistance of APEDA regarding development works & mechanization of Mandis. Government of Punjab has fully exempted Market fee and Rural Development fee on the export of rice. Mandi cleaning through the motorized cleaners, cleaning of produces through cleaners attached with dust collector and weighment with electronic weigh scales are the new areas of mechanization in these mandis.
