In order to minimize the post harvest losses the State Government has established Post Harvest Technology Centre at Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana with the financial assistance of PSAMB. The basic purpose of this centre is to develop techniques for increasing the shelf life of horticultural and vegetable produce and to impart training to the producers, traders, concerned government department employees for proper handling, grading, storage, packaging and transportation of produce. This will benefit the growers as well as traders to improve quality and minimize losses of fruit and vegetables in the State, ultimately benefiting consumers.
